Bride Susana | Portugal
Getting married makes any bride nervous, but getting married in the days of COVID makes any bride much more nervous, tense, always thinking about plans, alternatives, and fears. I was recently engaged when COVID started in Portugal, but I always kept the idea of getting married in 2020. The last thing I did before Portugal’s lockdown was to try on my dress at Vestidus in Lisbon, the only bridal store I visited and from where I left with my choice made. I tried to be optimistic all the time, but there were days that I couldn’t. There were moments of immense uncertainty and despair. Some guests pressing us as the numbers were frightening and the rules that appeared seemed to dictate a rigid event full of fear and without affection. We tried to focus on the fact that our message for everyone one was to
‘celebrate love with us’. We spoke with the closest family members who encouraged us to move forward and with the suppliers who reassured us that everything could go as smoothly as possible, obviously respecting safety rules. We changed the church so that all the guests could be comfortable and could be seated with the proper distances between them. On the farm, we were quite rested as it had enough space for everyone and it had adapted very well to new requirements. The days were spent in bustle, hoping for everything to go well so
that no one would feel afraid or insecure and then suddenly our day came… September 25th was without doubt the happiest day of my life! It was a day full of love, smiles, joy and happiness. We had the entrance cocktail, the buffet, music and entertainment. Everything went beautifully and the feedback we had from our guests exceeded all of our expectations. We are very happy that we did not give up and have fulfilled our dream even during COVID. I leave a kiss to all brides who are going through the same situation, trust that it is very worth it! (I want to get married again just to be able to wear my beautiful dress again 😊) “
